Week = the trading days from Monday to Friday (four days in holiday weeks). Net flow (USD) = for each trading day, the change in IBIT’s shares outstanding to the next trading day’s figure, times that day’s NAV per share, summed over the week. iShares reports shares outstanding for a date without that day’s creations and redemptions, which show up in the next day’s figure, so each change is attributed back to the prior trading day.1 Daily figures computed this way match the daily table in IBIT’s biggest flow days.2 Net new shares = shares outstanding after the week’s last trading day minus shares at the start of the first (in millions). NAV per share, week = the change in NAV from the close before the week to the week’s last trading day, which tracks bitcoin’s price less the fund’s fee. Days in / out counts days with net creations or redemptions. Ranks run separately for inflows and outflows. The launch week (January 5, 2024) and the partial week of October 12, 2026 are excluded. This is IBIT only, not all spot bitcoin ETFs.
The top weeks
An exchange-traded fund (ETF) grows when large trading firms create new shares and shrinks when they redeem them, so the daily change in shares outstanding is a measure of money moving in or out. Adding a week of those days shows the bigger swings that single-day figures hide.
