Fund Sponsors Named in the Most SEC Notices About Bitcoin Products

Before a stock exchange can list a bitcoin fund or options on one, it files a rule change with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which publishes a notice. This ranks the fund sponsors, such as iShares, Bitwise and VanEck, by how many of those notices name them in the title.

Notices = Federal Register documents from the SEC titled “Self-Regulatory Organizations; …” with “bitcoin” in the title, assigned to the first sponsor name found in the title (ARK and 21Shares together count as one sponsor; Invesco and Galaxy likewise).1 93 of the 406 notices name no sponsor, such as general rules for options on bitcoin funds. Only sponsors with at least five notices are shown. A notice is a filing by an exchange, not a finding about the fund, and a count of notices says nothing about a fund’s size.
